Lew and Mariesa

We had the most wonderful Christmas this year. It was such a special day. On Christmas eve at 10:00 pm all 21 of the children from one of the orphanages with which we work, plus the house parents, came over to celebrate with us. We had such a wonderful time.

At midnight the town of Arequipa has fireworks. The entire city is lit up with lights. We all went up to the roof (4th floor) of our house and watched the display. We then (yes, at midnight) came down and had Christmas dinner (also a tradition in Peru).

After dinner we brought in the birthday cake for Jesus and sang happy birthday in both English and Spanish. We then opened gifts and you should have seen their faces. Nothing could have been more joyful than watching these precious ones as they opened their gifts. Their joy was completely contagious.

God bless you all hope you have a very Jesus filled new year.
